Orders

How do I complete my order?

Once you have everything you need, click on your trolley (the icon top right of the screen), you will be able to proceed to checkout and then pay with one of the secure payment methods. We will process your order as soon as a successful payment is received. If you have paid, but did not get to the order confirmation page or did not receive an email acknowledging your purchase, please contact us on 0860 600 999.

What if I don't check out my items?

The products you have added to your trolley will remain there until you either remove them, or they are automatically removed if they are no longer available for online shopping. Prices may change over time, especially as products can go on and off promotion. Be sure that the price that is in your checkout trolley is the best price available at Makro at that point in time.

Can I split the delivery ?

Sometimes, orders will be automatically split based on the available fulfilment method per item. If you select locker-delivery, but not all items in your trolley meet the requirements of a locker, an alternative delivery method will be suggested.

You can choose not to split your order, and rather selected one preferred method of fulfilment that applies to all items in the trolley

Items sold by third party sellers/ online exclusives cannot be collected in-store or from pick-up lockers – these are only available for delivery directly to you.

Can I purchase Makro Gift Cards online??

Unfortunately you can’t purchase Makro Gift Cards online \(at the moment\). It’s something we’re working on and hope to be able to offer to you very soon. Gift Cards are available in-store.

How much money can I load on my Makro Gift Card?

Gift cards can be loaded with any value ranging between R50 - R5000 and are valid for 36 months from date of issue.

What happens if I don’t use all the money in my Makro Gift Card?

The entire value of the gift card does not have to be used at one time as the remaining balance is stored on the card for later use.

Can I still earn eBucks when paying with a Makro Gift Card?

Absolutely – simply present your eBucks card to the cashier.

How do I remove something from my trolley?

To the left of each item in your trolley, there is a red delete button which will remove the item from your trolley. You are also able to reduce and update your item quantity.

Can I order from another country?

Yes, but we can only deliver to addresses within the borders of South Africa. No deliveries are possible to other SADC countries (Namibia, Lesotho, Swaziland, Botswana, Zimbabwe or Mozambique)

Will you wrap gifts?

We do not gift wrap online purchases.

How do I change my delivery address?

Once you are logged into online shopping, you can access My Profile, navigate to My Details and My Delivery Address. You will have the ability to edit, add or delete any delivery addresses. You can also change your address at the checkout stage.

Why can I not pay for my Online Exclusive items with my normal items at the same time?

Online Exclusive items can take up to 21 calendar days to get to you and we cannot release portions of your order (such as the normal items) separately. We therefore require you to create two separate transactions when checking out Online Exclusive items with normal items.

How will I know if my order was successfully placed?

You will receive confirmation of your order via email, and an SMS to the mobile number you registered with.

How do I change my order?

How do I cancel my order?

Please contact our Online Support Centre on 0860 600 999 and a representative will assist you in cancelling your order. Note that a refund can take up to 10 days to reflect in your account.

Must I have a television licence?

By law, every customer must have a valid TV licence when purchasing a television set or any appliance with a built-in TV[TC1] . Our online solution will facilitate the purchase or renewal of a TV licence when buying a television. For more information on the requirements to buy a television, please visit the SABC website.

I do not have my television licence at hand. Can I still buy online?

Your ID number or EasyPay reference number will assist us in helping to find your television licence number.

Can I renew my TV licence at Makro?

Yes, you can renew or pay your TV licence without purchasing a TV at any Makro store, or on the SABC website. If you already have a TV licence, our highly efficient online system will be able to source your existing licence number/s and process your renewal. For TV licence renewals, we will need either an existing SABC TV licence number, or a South African ID number, or a valid Easy Pay transaction number.

What is an EasyPay number?

EasyPay is a free, independent service that facilitates the payment of accounts such as television licences. To make use of this service you need to register an account with easypay.co.za and link your SABC licence to this service. Subsequently a number starting with ‘92’ will be allocated to you.

I live with someone that already has a TV licence in their name. Do I still need to buy a TV licence?

You may use their TV licence as long as you live with them and they are family. If so, they will need to give you all their details, a copy of their ID and a permission letter. Our online agents may contact you to confirm the licence details and it is recommended that you upload scans of these documents when validating the TV licence to speed up processing of your order. Note that a single domestic licence is required per household, provided that:

  • All sets so licenced are used only at the licence holder's residential premises;
  • All sets so licenced are used only by members of the licence holder's family.
How do I obtain a liquor licence?

A liquor licence can be obtained from your local liquor board.

Who needs a liquor licence?

If you trade or re-sell liquor, then you will require a liquor licence to purchase from Makro. Also, any liquor purchases that include more than 150 litres will also require a liquor licence.

Can I purchase liquor for my personal consumption?

Definitely, however liquor will only be sold and delivered to persons 18 years or older and an ID verification will be required. Purchases over 150 litres will require authorisation from the CEO of the Liquor Board.
