New Makro-Shout Library opens at Solomon Mahlangu School in Cornubia
Makro is excited to announce it’s launching a library at the underprivileged Solomon Mahlangu Primary School in Cornubia, Durban, on 9 July 2019 in partnership with the Shout Foundation.
Makro through its corporate social investment programmes, continuously strides to positively impact the communities in which they operate in.
The latest project is one the giant retailer, has been looking forward to for a long time, along with our partners from the Shout Foundation.
Shout is a non-profit organisation, founded by acclaimed South African artists Danny K and Kabelo Mabelane, following the tragic death of music legend Lucky Dube.
Clinton Mitri, the chief operating officer of Network BBDO and official partner to Shout said, “It has been my great pleasure to work with Shout and Makro on this project. They have such a passion for making South Africa a better place that it is difficult not to be infected by their passion and vision. We look forward to collaborating on many more libraries and enriching the minds of young South Africans.”
The opening of the Makro Shout library will afford the learners of Solomon Mahlangu access to more than 2000 beneficial books.
The opening of a library beautifully aligns with the retailers support of education enabling initiatives. “We look forward to the library serving as the perfect place for learners to enjoy reading and wish for the initiative to contribute in establishing a culture of reading and dissemination of knowledge,” concluded Farzana Sonvadi, Corporate Affairs Manager for Makro SA.
