Instructions
Prepare the Food and Containers:
Ensure the food items are dry and cool. Oxygen absorbers are not suitable for high-moisture or liquid foods.
Clean and dry the containers you plan to use.
Select the Right Size:
Choose oxygen absorbers based on the volume of the container. Typically, they are rated by their oxygen absorption capacity in cubic centimeters (cc). Refer to the manufacturer's guidelines to select the appropriate size.
Here are some general guidelines:
For a 1-liter container, use one 30cc or one 50cc absorber.
For a 2-liter container, use two 30cc absorbers or one 50cc absorber.
For a 4-liter container, use three 30cc absorbers, two 50cc absorbers, or one 100cc absorber.
For a 5-liter container, use four 30cc absorbers, three 50cc absorbers, or one 100cc absorber.
Open the Oxygen Absorber Package:
Oxygen absorbers start working as soon as they are exposed to air. Open the package only when you are ready to use them. Have your containers and food ready beforehand.
Place the Oxygen Absorber:
Quickly place the appropriate number of oxygen absorbers into the container with the food. The number of absorbers depends on the container size and the food type.
Seal the Container:
Immediately seal the container to prevent air from entering. Use airtight methods:
For Mylar bags, use a heat sealer.
For vacuum-sealed bags, use a vacuum sealer.
For jars, ensure the lids are properly tightened.
Store the Containers:
Store the sealed containers in a cool, dark place. Avoid exposing them to direct sunlight or extreme temperatures.
Additional Tips
Use Fresh Absorbers: Ensure your oxygen absorbers are fresh. They come with an indicator tablet that shows if they are still active (usually turns from pink to blue when inactive).
Work Quickly: Minimize the time oxygen absorbers are exposed to air before sealing the container.
Re-seal Unused Absorbers: If you have leftover absorbers, seal them in an airtight container or vacuum-sealed bag to preserve their effectiveness.
Label Your Containers: Mark the date of packaging and the contents for future reference.
Safety and Storage
Handling: Oxygen absorbers are safe to handle but should not be ingested. Keep them away from children and pets.
Disposal: Once used, oxygen absorbers can be disposed of with regular household waste.
