3D Secure is an initiative by Visa and MasterCard to add an extra level of security when using your credit card online. A 3D Secure-enabled credit card will require the entry of a one-time PIN before your order can be placed. If you have never set your credit card up for 3D Secure one-time PINs, your bank will automatically take you through the process the first time you try and pay.
In order to take advantage of our convenient way to shop, you will need to register for online shopping. To do this, you need to be 18 years or older and have an email address. When registering, you can use your in-store Makro Card, or the website will assign you a card number if you don’t already have one. If you are a business customer and want to shop online, you can register as a business.
We have no limitations on liquor purchases. However, any purchase over 150 litres requires a valid liquor licence. If you are purchasing in your private capacity, you will need to provide us with written approval from the CEO of the Liquor Board.
Our website can provide an estimation of stock availability for delivery, collection or in-store, based on the previous day’s closing stock. Before you have selected your fulfilment choice, the site looks at your region (determined by your IP address), however only once we have the exact details of the fulfilment location, can we confirm the stock availability. We do our best to source stock even if it is low, but there may be cases where we will need to contact you as this may lead to extended lead times. Unfortunately, due to the nature of our business, we cannot guarantee the stock indicated on the site is in-store. However if you want to confirm the quantity available, it’s best to contact us on 0860 409 999 or your closest store. (Please note that, as a rule, we do not reserve stock).
As we are competitively priced and our stock sells on demand, we cannot guarantee stock. However we will try our best to source the items for you. We will be in contact with you should we encounter any problems with stock.
This is a facility linked to your Makro Card that allows businesses to purchase on credit.
Your credit available will be reduced by the value of the online order.
This application can only be completed at your closest Makro store or the store you choose to hold your relationship with. Only registered entities may apply for a Makro Trade Debtor account. Once this application is approved, a new Makro Card is provided with the barcode of your Makro Trade Debtor account which can be used in store or online.
Should all the documents meet our requirements, we will contact you within 48 hours of your application. You may also contact your Makro store who will assist you with tracking the progress of your application.
Unfortunately at this stage we do not split any transactions for online purchases. If you attempt to pay with one method and have insufficient funds, you will be taken back to the Collection/Delivery confirmation page, where you may re-attempt with a different payment method, or go back one step and remove items from your trolley.
You can use your card once the account is linked to your online shopping profile. To do this follow these steps:
- You need to have an existing Trade Debtor account approved.
- Then you will need to register for online shopping using the same details as the Makro Card with the Trade Debtor account linked.
- In this process, you will be given the option apply to link the Trade Debtor account to your online shopping profile. To do this, you will need to provide a copy of the Permission Form signed, a copy of your ID and a mobile number for security.
- This will need to be verified and you will be notified of the outcome before it will be active for online purchases.
If you have already registered an online business profile, then you can link your online shopping profile with the Trade Debtor account by signing-in, going to the “My Business” tab of your online shopping profile and the option should appear to link your Trade Debtor account to your online shopping profile.
If you have a Trade Debtor account but you are not seeing the option to link the account to your profile, call the customer centre on 0860 409 999 and they can help link it manually.
If you have registered as a business and you don’t see an option to link your Trade Debtor account, it could be because the details of the business registration don’t match with the Trade Debtor facility and you will need to contact us on 0860 409 999 to manually link them. Once linked, sign-in to your online shopping profile and visit the “My business” tab where you will see the option to “apply to link your Trade Debtor account”. Tick this option and follow the steps. These include providing a signed copy of the Permission Form and uploading a copy of your ID as well as providing a mobile number for the receipt of the one-time Pin (OTP) for security verification when spending with this card. Within 48 hours on week days, you will be notified as to the approval of your application to link the cards. If you have any queries, please contact us on 0860 409 999.

At this stage we accept
- Credit cards: South African MasterCard and Visa credit cards that are 3D Secure enabled.
- FNB eBucks until 31 October 2020.
- Electronic Funds Transfer from South African banks. Note that we will only start processing your order once payment has been verified.
- Makro Trade Debtor accounts
We will refund transactions based on the tender type used however if 50% or more of the transaction was completed using your Trade Debtor account, we will refund the entire refund value to the Trade Debtor card.
