Bought this recently as have just replaced my desktop computer to an HP Pavillion and most if not all desktops now don't have cd/dvd drives so really pleased to see that hp make one. Very pleased with it.

Purchased a new laptop and with it a HP External USB disc drive , which in true HP style was delivered promptly. The laptop so far is fine , but the external drive just will not run smoothly. To return a faulty item to HP it is necessary to first speak to technical support to get a number for the returns process, good luck with that ._x000D_
So as not to lull you into a bored snooze I'll keep the rest brief , after an hours worth of phone calls desperately seeking tech help from very nice peo...

Doesn't play DVDs so a waste of money. It may be it needs software but this should be clear in the instructions.

Does , what should do, just download the CD / DVD App.

Can not get this to play dvd's. It will play cd discs.

I previously purchased another brand with built in hub. It was useless and was returned the same day. I then went back to the trusty HP external drive. It is a little more expensive, but it has worked a charm. It is a shame that new pc's these days don't have them still built in. Not everything is streamed.

I have lots of music on cd and still use them and I am sure that I am not the only one.

This drive was good as plug n play and has never missed a beat.
