Had enough, sending it back
It will not work with the Desktop which I brought at the same time. However I have been able to remotely open the drawer. Really exciting!! I have managed to get it working with my old laptop. No idea if it is a problem with this unit or the Desktop. I have spoken to several "techs" at HP who don't seem to know how to fix the problem. I will be sending the unit back Monday afternoon

If This is Progress...
I bought this external drive because HP could no longer offer a notebook PC with one onboard.
I have plugged it into my new HP notebook. It doesn't seem to know it is there.
My old HP notebook has since been repaired and the new gear has been filed in the bottom of the broom cupboard.
