Terms and Conditions
Masstores (Pty) Ltd (“Makro”) is pleased to offer our customers access to Makro Restored devices sold by our approved Sellers. These pre-owned devices have been carefully tested, refurbished and, in certain instances, certified for resale by our approved sellers. By purchasing a Makro Restored device through a participating Makro channels, customers agree to be bound by the following terms and conditions in addition to the Makro Terms of Use.
What is Makro Restored?
Makro Restored devices are pre-owned electronic devices—primarily smartphones and tablets—that have been thoroughly inspected, tested, and restored to a functional state. Each device undergoes a multi-point quality assurance process and is validated by Makro approved Sellers.
Makro Restored devices may be repackaged in a branded box and come with standard accessories as listed below.
- Validation and Certification Process: Every Makro Restored device is subjected to a rigorous quality check by our approved Sellers, ensuring it meets or exceeds industry standards for functionality and safety.
- Packaging: Makro Restored devices are supplied in standard packaging and may contain the seller’s branding.
- Included Accessories: Each device includes an original battery (internal or external, as applicable) and a SIM eject pin.
- Excluded accessories (such as chargers, charger adapters, USB cables, earphones) are not included unless otherwise stated at the point of sale. Any image depicted with these accessories is for illustration purposes only and shall not be construed as an offering for those accessories to be included. In certain instances, the Device and accessories may have a bundled deal which will be detail in the product listing.
Categories of Devices sold by Makro Restored

These Devices are either*:
- Pre-Owned – a previously owned electronic device sold in its existing condition without undergoing formal inspection, testing, refurbishment, or certification by an authorized retailer or service provider. These Devices may show signs of use, may contain defects not disclosed or identifiable at the time of sale, and are sold without a warranty outside of the Consumer Protection Act application, unless stated otherwise by the Seller. Please refer to the category grading for further detail on the condition of the Device.
- Refurbished – May have a part or parts replaced (e.g., housing, LCD, battery) but also undergoes a 40-point diagnostic quality control check by the Seller to ensure full functionality in line with the condition grading set out below.
- Parallel Imports, also known as “Grey Goods” – in certain circumstances, the Device is a genuine, non-counterfeit product that is imported into a country without the authorization of the official brand owner or local distributor and is permitted for resale provided it complies with the Consumer Protection Act requirements.
*In some instances, it is possible for a Device to be a combination of the above criteria.
Condition of Makro Restored Devices
Makro Restored devices are used products and may show signs of previous ownership. While our refurbishment process addresses functional concerns and restores performance, cosmetic imperfections may remain.
- Minor Cosmetic Wear: Devices may have scratches, small dents, or other minor cosmetic imperfections that do not affect performance or functionality. Such blemishes are not covered by warranty and Makro shall not be responsible for these minor aesthetic issues.
- Functionality: Every device is fully functional and tested to ensure performance aligns with Makro standards for Restored devices.
Please ensure that you view the Device page detail regarding the condition of the Device before purchase. A condition refers to the state of a Device, indicating its level of wear and tear, prior use (if any), appearance, and overall quality. Condition types are attributes used to classify and describe the condition of a pre-owned Product being sold on Makro and range between:
- CPO: We need to stop calling it CPO but rather Pre owned for Phones/Tablets, headphones, consoles and speakers. The only refurbished items allowed are desktops and laptops
- Grade A: Cosmetically, the Device is in excellent condition with minimal signs of use in terms of limited noticeable scuffs, dents or scratches
- Grade B: The Device is in good condition with light to moderate wear and tear being visible in terms of scuffs, dents and/or scratches on the exterior of the Device
- Grade C: The Device is in a fair condition with more noticeable wear and tear scratches, dents and/ or scuffs being visible while the Device itself is still functional
Pricing and Availability
Makro Restored devices are available at select Makro through our online channels only. Prices are subject to variation based on device model, specifications, age, and condition. All prices are clearly displayed at the point of sale and are non-negotiable unless otherwise stated during promotional periods.
Makro Restored devices are sold with an approved Seller backed limited warranty of 12 (twelve) months from the date of purchase. The warranty applies solely to device faults related to hardware and battery performance as stipulated in the specific supplier warranty conditions that may arise under normal usage conditions within the warranty period.
Exclusions: The warranty does not cover accidental, physical, or liquid damage; cosmetic imperfections; misuse; unauthorized repairs or modifications; or use of incompatible accessories.
Warranty Claims: Customers must retain their proof of purchase for the duration of the warranty period. The warranty service requires a valid original receipt.
Repair or Replacement: At Makro’s discretion and subject to supplier conditions, Devices qualifying under the warranty may be repaired or replaced with a like-for-like model in terms of our Returns and Refund policy. If an exact replacement is not available, Makro will offer a device of similar make, model, color, and memory in agreement with the customer.
Customer Responsibilities
By purchasing a Makro Restored device, customers agree to the following responsibilities:
- Proof of Purchase: Retain your receipt for the full warranty period. This is required for all warranty claims.
- Device Care: Use the device according to manufacturer and supplier guidelines. Avoid exposure to liquids, physical shock, or environmental hazards.
- Warranty Compliance: Do not attempt unauthorized repairs or modifications. Warranty services are voided by tampering, use of incompatible accessories, or neglect.
- Reporting Issues: Report any functional issues as soon as possible. Warranty claims should be made within the warranty period and include a clear description of the defect.
Returns and Exchanges
Makro Restored devices are subject to Makro’s Return and Refund policy. Devices may be returned within the period specified in Makro’s Return policy, provided they are in the same condition as sold, unused and accompanied by the original packaging, accessories, and proof of purchase.
- Eligibility: Devices must be returned in the condition received, without additional damage or missing components.
- Process: Returns must be initiated through the original point of sale. Makro reserves the right to inspect returned devices and assess eligibility and/or defer the assessment to a third party.
- Refunds: Approved returns will be refunded using the original payment method. Processing time for refunds may vary.
- Exclusions: Devices showing signs of misuse, unauthorized modification, or physical/liquid damage are not eligible for a return.
Limitation of Liability
Makro or its approved Sellers are not liable for:
- Loss of data, software, or personal information stored on the device.
- Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use or inability to use the device.
- Cosmetic imperfections present on the device at the time of purchase.
