STANDARD TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR INTERNAL COMPETITIONS:
- The promotor of this competition is Masstores (Pty) Ltd t/a Makro (registration number: 1991/006805/07) with its registered address at 16 Peltier Drive, Sunninghill, 2157 (hereinafter referred to as “Promoter”).
- All persons entering this Makro Stokvel Competition (hereinafter referred to as the “Competition”) agree to be bound by these competition terms and conditions.
- All participants to the Competition are doing so entirely at their own risk.
- This competition commences on 1 October 2025 and ends on 31 December 2025 (“Competition Period”).
- To enter the Competition, the participant must be a member of a registered Stokvel at Makro and the participant must purchase R5 000 or more of products at Makro instore where the stokvel is registered during in the Competition Period in order to stand a chance to win a cash prize valued at R10 000 (ten thousand Rand) each.
- There only be 1 (one) winner randomly drawn from all the participants. One winner will be randomly selected from the 23 participating Makro stores. The winner will be notified telephonically by 20 January 2026. The Promoter may, in its sole discretion, extend this date for any reason whatsoever.
- The one winner of this Competition shall receive R10 000 money back transferred to his/her Makro Stokvel account.
- There are no entry fees to participate in the Competition.
- Only 1 (one) entry per participant is allowed and no late entries will be accepted by the Promoter.
- The Competition is only open to natural persons who South African residents, 18 years old or older, and who are in possession of a valid South African identity document or a valid South African residence permit (“the Participants”). Any employee, director, member, partner, agent or consultant or any person directly or indirectly who controls or is controlled by the Promoter and/or immediate family members of any employee, director, member, partner, agent, service provider or consultant of or person indirectly or directly in control or controlled by the Promoter, their advertising agencies, advisers, dealers, suppliers, its affiliates and/or associated companies are excluded from entering this Competition.
The Prize will only be awarded:
- to a natural person as stipulated in these rules and will not be awarded to any legal entity; and
- if it is not unlawful to supply the Prize to a person in terms of any legislation or public regulation and the Promoter reserves the right to require proof that it will not be unlawful to supply a Prize (for example to request the winner of a TV to provide his/her TV license to the Promoter before they can hand over the prize).
- The winners prize is not transferable, non-refundable, and non-exchangeable and cannot be redeemed for cash. All prizes will be taxed in accordance with the relevant tax laws.
- The winner will be selected by a random draw and notified telephonically within 4 (four) weeks of the closing date. the Promoter may, in its sole discretion, extend this date for any reason whatsoever.
- In the event of a dispute, the decision of the Competition judges and the Promoter is final and binding, and no further correspondence will be entertained.
- The hereby consents to the Promoter using and processing any personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 for processing of the participants entry as stated herein as well as for any marketing and promotions. The participant may contact the Promoter contact centre on 0861 4263 2273 in order to have their personal information verified, amended or removed from the Promoter database.
- The winners may be requested to provide their names for publicity purposes. The name of the winners and their pictures may be re-posted on the Promoter various Social Media sites, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram as well as on https://www.makro.co.za/
- The Promoter reserve the right to cancel the Competition, to change the number or type of prizes at anytime during the Competition, in the event that there are any unforeseen circumstances or causes outside of the reasonable control of the Promoter.
- The participant hereby consents to the Promoter supplying the participants personal information and contact details to any third party service provider to assist with the administration of the Competition as well as to contact the participant for providing the results of the Competition and to arrange delivery to the winners of the prizes.
- The winner shall be disqualified from the Competition in the event that any of his/her accounts with the Promoter is in arrears at the time of the draw. A new winner will be drawn by the independent auditing firm.
- In the event that the Promoter is unable to contact the selected winner within 2 (two) weeks from the date of the draw then another winner shall be selected by a random draw and in compliance with clause 13 above.
- In the event of a dispute, the decision of the Competition judges and the Promoter is final and binding, and no further correspondence will be entertained.
- By entering the Competition, the participant acknowledges that he/she is entering a promotional competition for the purposes of the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (hereinafter referred to as “CPA”) and the promotional competition will be conducted in accordance with the CPA. The winner of the Competition undertakes to do all things necessary to enable the Promoter to comply with its obligations under the CPA including, but not limited to providing any personal information as may be required in order to facilitate handing over the prize (including providing proof of address and identity number) and signing receipt of the prize upon its delivery.
- By participating in the Competition, the prize winner agrees to indemnify the Promoter, and release and hold the Promoter harmless against any and all losses, damages, rights, claims and actions of any kind in connection with the Competition or resulting from acceptance and participation in the Competition including, but not limited to, any personal injuries, death, damage to property and claims based on defamation or invasion of privacy.
