Win a Year’s School Fees Competition – Powered by RCS

  1. Promoters

The promoters of this “Win a Year’s School Fees” competition (“Competition”) are:

• Massmart Holdings Limited, with its registered address at 16 Peltier Drive, Sunninghill, 2157;

• its operating units, Game and Makro, divisions of Massmart Retail (Pty) Ltd (registration number 2008/011666/07); and

• RCS Cards (Pty) Ltd, a registered Credit and authorised Financial Services Provider (NCRCP 38; FSP 44481).

(Collectively referred to as “the Promoters”).

  1. Who may enter

2.1 Entry into this Competition is open to customers of the Promoters who:

• are 18 years or older;

• are in possession of a valid South African Identity Document, or passport with a valid temporary or permanent residence permit for South Africa;

• are registered on the Promoter’s Data Warehouse System; and

• whose credit accounts are current and in good standing on the date of the draw (“the Participants”).

2.2 The following are not eligible to participate:

• any employee, director, member, partner, agent, consultant, or person who directly or indirectly controls or is controlled by the Promoters;

• immediate family members of the above;

• the Promoters’ advertising agencies, advisers, dealers, suppliers, service providers, affiliates, and/or associated companies.

2.3 The Prize will only be awarded:

• to a natural person (not to a legal entity);

• where it is lawful to supply such a prize.

  1. Agreement and amendments

3.1 By entering this Competition, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions, which will be interpreted by the Promoters. The Promoters’ decision regarding any dispute will be final and binding.

3.2 The Promoters reserve the right to amend, modify, change, postpone, suspend, or terminate this Competition or any aspect thereof at any time without notice, for any reason the Promoters reasonably deem necessary.

3.3 The Promoters reserve the right to extend the Competition period in the event that the minimum number of qualifying entries is not met.

  1. Competition period

• Game: 9 December 2025 to 31 January 2026 (both days inclusive)

• Makro: 24 November 2025 to 31 January 2026 (both days inclusive)

Any entries received after 23h59 on the last day of the Competition will not be considered.

  1. Prize/s

5.1 By entering this Competition, you stand a chance to win a year’s school fees valued at R25,000 (twenty-five thousand rand).

5.2 There will be six (2) winners in total, two from each of the following regions (3x Game and 3x Makro):

• Cape Town

• Gauteng

• KwaZulu-Natal

5.3 The Prize will be fulfilled by way of a direct payment of R25,000 to the winner’s nominated school of choice.

5.4 The Prize may not be transferred, deferred, exchanged for cash, or redeemed in any other form.

5.5 If the winner does not currently have a child in school, they may nominate a school of their choice, and a cash sponsorship of R25,000 will be paid directly to that school.

5.6 The Promoters reserve the right to substitute the Prize with another prize of comparable commercial value if necessary.

5.7 All other costs not expressly stated in these Terms and Conditions are excluded.

5.8 Winners will be responsible for any tax, levy, or duty that may arise from the Prize.

  1. How to enter

6.1 Participants who spend R1,000 (one thousand rand) or more with their:

• Game myStore Card at a Game store, or

• Makro Credit Card at a Makro store

during the Competition Period will be automatically entered into the Competition (“the Qualifying Transaction”).

6.2 Both in-store and online purchases qualify.

6.3 Participants may enter as many times as they wish, provided each entry is linked to a separate Qualifying Transaction.

6.4 Only one Prize per winner will be awarded.

  1. Winner/s

7.1 There will be three (3) winners, one from each of the specified regions.

7.2 Winners will be randomly selected by an independent third party on or about 1 May 2025, but no later than three (3) months after the closing date.

7.3 To be eligible, winners’ accounts must be in good standing, and they must not have committed fraud or any other criminal act against the Promoters.

7.4 The results containing the winners’ names and town/city may be published on the Promoters’ websites and media platforms. Winners may be invited to participate in publicity campaigns but may decline such invitations.

7.5 If a winner fails to comply with the Promoters’ requirements within the specified period, the Prize will be forfeited.

  1. Accuracy of information

8.1 Participants must ensure that all information supplied to the Promoters is accurate and up to date.

8.2 The Promoters will attempt to contact each winner at least three (3) times using the details provided. If contact cannot be made within three (3) working days, the winner will forfeit the Prize and another winner will be selected.

  1. Redemption of the Prize

9.1 The Promoters accept no liability for additional costs incurred in redeeming the Prize.

9.2 Winners indemnify the Promoters against any claims arising from their participation in the Competition or acceptance of the Prize.

  1. Indemnities

10.1 Participation in this Competition is entirely at your own risk.

10.2 The Promoters and their affiliates are not responsible for:

• technical malfunctions, delays, or data loss;

• incorrect entry information;

• errors on online platforms;

• accidents, harm, or loss suffered from participation or use of the Prize.

  1. Disputes

11.1 The Promoters’ decision regarding any dispute will be final and binding, and no correspondence will be entered into.

  1. Rejection or forfeiture of Prize

A winner will forfeit the Prize if:

• they have already won a Prize in this or another Promoters’ competition within the past 3 months;

• they fail to provide required information within 24 hours;

• they fail to comply with these Terms and Conditions;

• they refuse to sign acceptance forms;

• they cannot be contacted despite reasonable attempts; or

• it is unlawful for them to receive the Prize.

  1. Data protection

13.1 By entering, you consent to the Promoters processing your personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (“POPIA”).

13.3 Information will only be shared as required for competition purposes and will not be sold or misused.
