Castle Double Malt Extra Smooth Express Competition Terms and Conditions

Promoter Details

The promoter is The South African Breweries (“the Promoter”).

Eligibility

This promotional competition (“Competition”) is open to all South African residents aged 18 years and older who are in possession of a valid South African identity document. A passport or other documentary proof of South African residency may be provided but is not mandatory.

The following persons are not eligible to enter:

  • Any director, member, partner, employee, agent, or consultant of the Promoter, The South African Breweries, or any of their affiliates, marketing service providers, suppliers, or distributors.
  • Immediate family members (spouses, life partners, business partners, or relatives) of any of the above.

Competition Period

The Competition starts on 16 June 2025 and ends on 27 July 2025 (the “Campaign Period”).

No late entries will be considered.

Entry Mechanics

To enter the Competition, participants must:

    1. Purchase a case of Castle Double Malt NRB or CAN
    2. Keep the till slip as proof of purchase.
    3. Swipe their Makro rewards card

Participants may enter multiple times, provided each entry corresponds to a separate purchase. Any suspected fraudulent activity, such as code manipulation, will lead to disqualification and may result in legal action.

Prizes

The prizes are as follows:

  • 10 double tickets to the Castle Double Malt Extra Smooth Express, which includes flights, accommodation and entertainment.

Non-Interchangeability of Prizes

    1. Prizes awarded in this Competition are strictly non-transferable, non-exchangeable, and cannot be redeemed for cash or credit under any circumstances. The Promoter will not provide any alternative compensation, cash equivalent, or substitute for the prize should the winner decline or be unable to accept the prize for any reason. Winners must accept the prize "as is," and no requests for variations, substitutions, or cash payouts will be considered.
    2. Prizes are non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash or credit. If a specific prize is unavailable, the Promoter reserves the right to substitute it with another prize of equal value in compliance with the Consumer Protection Act.

Grand Prize Winner Selection and Notification

The Grand Prize winner will be randomly drawn after the Campaign Period. The Promoter will contact the winner telephonically within 5 working days. If the winner cannot be contacted or fails to verify their details within this period, the prize will be forfeited, and an alternate winner will be selected.

The Grand Prize winner will be required to:

  • Verify their identity by providing proof of identity and contact details.
  • Sign an acknowledgment of receipt form.
  • Consent to having their name announced publicly in line with the Promoter’s data

protection policies.

Winner Selection and Notification for Other Prizes

All prizes not claimed or collected within one month of the prize draw will be deemed forfeited.

Liability

The Promoter, its agents, and suppliers will not be held liable for:

  • Technical failures, such as website downtime or cyberattacks, that may impact entries.
  • Loss, damage, or delays affecting prize delivery.
  • Unused portions of any prize, which will be deemed waived by the winner.
  • Events beyond its control, such as natural disasters or government restrictions, that may affect the Competition.

Data Privacy

By entering, participants consent to the processing of their personal information for Competition purposes. Personal data will be retained only as long as necessary for reporting, compliance, or legal purposes and in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). Further processing will require explicit participant consent.

Intellectual Property

Participants waive moral rights and grant the Promoter unlimited, perpetual, royalty-free rights to use Competition-related intellectual property created by participants. This applies exclusively to entries and does not include unrelated intellectual property. The Promoter may edit and use such material at its sole discretion.

Dispute Resolution

Disputes will be resolved via arbitration in accordance with South African law, with the arbitration decision being final and binding on all parties.

Amendments and Termination

The Promoter reserves the right to amend or terminate the Competition with 7 days’ notice in cases of unforeseen circumstances. Participants agree to waive any claims against the Promoter in such instances.

Social Media Disclaimer

This promotion is not sponsored, endorsed, or administered by any social media platform. Participants acknowledge that they are providing information to the Promoter, not to any social media channel. The Promoter is not liable for data breaches or technical issues on these platforms.

General

Participation in the Competition constitutes acceptance of these terms and conditions. The

judges’ decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
