Can not figure out how to play it, sat for an hour and lost all interest

Sent this to three grandkids sheltering at home, and it was perfect for them. They don't get tired of playing this game

Initially I thought this would be okay for my family (as we LOVE Exploding Kittens). I watched a few videos to get a handle on how to play. There were a number of references to spells and sacrifices. Then I read in the 2 player rules section that there's a Sadistic Ritual card and I stopped there, packed it up, and returned it. Just not the direction we want to go for family game night. i ordered this game for my neice thought it qould be a cool older kid game(she's 14) the box is a lot smaller then i thought it would be... So I'll get her some other thing's to go with it. delivery was super fast i got it the next day! i was super surprised.

The grand kids loved the game.
